Internship

Public Relations & Marketing Intern

January 2026 - May 2026

My internship with Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont (GSCP2P) has been a definitive highlight of my college career, providing me with deep, hands-on experience in high-level public relations. I played an active role in executing two major initiatives: the Gold Award celebrations and Curiosity Quest. Contributing to these projects allowed me to manage the content strategy for a combined audience of over 13,000 followers on Facebook and Instagram. Through a high-impact organic strategy, I generated over 38,000 views across just two posts, significantly outperforming account benchmarks and driving 170+ direct link clicks to key organizational resources. Managing the moving parts of these concurrent, large-scale campaigns taught me the value of rigorous organization and strategic storytelling, ensuring every message stayed on brand in a fast-paced professional environment.

Gold Award

The Gold Award represents the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts, and managing the communications for these recipients was a responsibility I took seriously. For each honoree, I developed a comprehensive media suite designed to maximize their story’s reach. This involved drafting professional press releases for local media outlets, crafting engaging social media content to drive community interaction, and writing long-form blog posts that delved deeper into the impact of their service projects. Executing these integrated campaigns sharpened my ability to maintain a consistent brand voice across multiple platforms while tailoring the message to suit each specific medium.

Curiosity Quest 2026

Curiosity Quest 2026 was a high-energy social media campaign designed to promote a day of hands-on discovery in Winston-Salem. Given full creative ownership of the event's digital presence, I was entrusted by my internship director to conceptualize and design the entire social media suite. This was a defining opportunity to showcase my design skills while maintaining a cohesive brand identity across multiple platforms. By translating the excitement of a live discovery event into engaging visual content, I was able to build significant momentum leading up to the day, ensuring the campaign resonated with our community and drove meaningful attendance.

Press Releases

Drafting press releases quickly became one of my favorite aspects of my internship, as it allowed me to blend strategic storytelling with clear, actionable communication. I was responsible for crafting media releases for a variety of high-priority initiatives, including Summer Camp early bird discounts and specialized Day Camp events. By identifying the most compelling angles for each story, I created professional outreach materials designed to capture media attention and drive community engagement. This experience not only sharpened my AP Style writing but also taught me how to pivot my tone to meet the specific needs of different organizational goals.

Social Media Graphics

Beyond major campaigns, I managed the weekly visual identity for our social media channels by designing custom graphics for all upcoming events and announcements. This consistent production schedule required me to stay ahead of the organizational calendar, ensuring that every post was not only visually striking but also strategically aligned with our brand standards. By balancing high-volume output with creative quality, I developed a reliable digital presence that kept our community informed and excited about our year-round programming.
